Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Joseph Few Wright Jr. of Columbia, Maryland, born in Brevard, North Carolina, who passed away at the age of 81, on February 16, 2024. Wright was born in Idle, near Bradford in the former West Riding of Yorkshire, the second son of Dufton Wright, a woollen cloth weaver and quarryman, and his wife Sarah Ann (née Atkinson). [1] He started work as a "donkey-boy" in a quarry around 1862, at the age of six, leading a donkey-drawn cart full of tools to the smithy to be sharpened.

Joseph was born in Chelsea, London in 1767 to Joseph and Elizabeth Wright. Little is known about Joseph Junior in 18th century England, but he may have been a trainee blacksmith or similar. In 1784, when Joseph was 17 years old, while walking in Sloane Square, Chelsea, he noticed some renovations being done in Sloane Street.
