Generally they are a good buy for the money, but you can find good deals on used Mossy 500's and Rem 870's too.I own the Mossberg Maverick 88 special purpose 20" barrel version and really like it. It's considered to be considerably better than the current Remington 870 Express as far as steel used, reliability, etc. Google it. I debated over whether to go with the Maverick 88 or H&R, and after doing a lot of reading, I decided to get the H&R.
