I estimate with the original bottom end of the 350/290 combined with the vortecs and performer intake, im around 9.5:1 compression. It was 8.5:1 in its original condition before the OP messed with it. The previous owner installed a Pete Jackson gear drive and used the 2 degree retard insert for some reason. What should the result be by using the 2 degree retard versus being set a 0 degree. The engine is not very responsive at low end. The Edelbrock 2102 is the exact same cam, from the exact same supplier, that Slummit puts in their box and calls the K1102.
