I have a 2001 TJ 4.0 and it is consistently throwing a P0305 (#5 piston misfire) code and any time the RPM reaches 2800, it cuts out and surges between 2600 and 2800 rpm (exactly like a Rev limiter, assume a limp mode).The only thing that may need a reset (and is not required on FCA vehicles) is the IBS. However simply unplugging the IBS from the battery DOES reset it and it will relearn itself over the course of a few days.
